Energy Management Systems (EMES)
We know the importance of reducing energy costs. Improper energy usage can affect overhead, occupant comfort, tenant satisfaction, and performance. STPCx covers wide areas of expertise whose experience includes: Energy Audits, Historical Electricity and Gas Use Analysis, Energy-Efficient Technologies Assessment, Heat Recovery and Thermal Energy Storage Analysis, Cogeneration System Studies, Renewable Energy Assessment, Smart Metering Assessment, and Building Energy Use Simulation.
Energy assessments are performed at the level needed to determine and justify the energy saving opportunities. A walk-through determines the visual status of the problem as well as determining the need for more detailed focus. Typical concerns, which may be covered in a walk-through include reduction in infiltration, quality of equipment performance, and controls including ventilation control, lighting, and energy efficiency.
Recently, state and local jurisdictions have been leveraging programs such as ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, as a way to track building energy performance. We have experience with this procedure and are prepared to assist building owners with the potential for mandatory disclosure of building energy performance.
Energy Modeling and Simulation
A building simulation is a mathematical representation of the way in which a building functions. The accuracy is determined by a careful analysis and underlying set of data. Once the simulation replicates the buildings monthly energy consumption by comparison with energy bills and operating data, alternate systems can be compared against the base case. These simulations are especially useful in evaluating the cost-benefits in an energy-efficiency retrofit or recommissioning project.
